Research Interests

Dr. Sun ’s research works cover various aspects of semiconductor device designs (theoretical and computational), material growth (epitaxy), thin film deposition, device fabrication and operation of III-nitrides-based ultraviolet and visible light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and laser diodes (LDs) on sapphire and SiC substrates. His research topics include the physics of quantum well structures and nanostructures (quantum dots or wires), as well as the engineering of advanced device concept (photonic crystals and surface plasmonics) for high efficiency LEDs for solid state lighting applications.
